Paint.NET 4.2.16 is an application for manipulating images and photos with lots of effects. Each feature and interface is designed intuitively so that it is faster to learn without using help. By using Paint.net, you will be easier to edit an image, give effect to the image without having to bother arranging layers and more. This app was developed by Washington State University, with a little help from Microsoft. There are a number of powerful features included in this free app. The appearance of this application seems very simple, with a user-interface on the left that almost resembles Adobe Photoshop tools. The most interesting thing is the layer column and history because it is very simple, unlike GIMP which seems crowded. This application also has a 3D Rotate / Zoom effect, as well as several special effects tools. Of course, this free application can be an alternative choice of similar software, such as GIMP.

  • New: WebP images are now supported due to bundling @null54’s excellent WebPFileType plugin
  • Fixed: Pasting images from Firefox’s “Take a Screenshot” feature was resulting in swapped red and blue channels due to the mishandling of DIB_V5 clipboard data using the BI_RGB value for bV5Compression (thanks @null54 for the fix!)
  • Fixed crash at startup (for both app and installer) on Windows “N” editions due to missing mfplat.dll (Media Foundation Platform)
  • Updated bundled DDSFileTypePlus plugin
